InvokeAI Commercial Platform Shuts Down, Open-Source Project Continues
The commercial version of InvokeAI has shut down, including its hosted platform, following the acquisition of key Invoke team members by Adobe in October 2025. As a result, Invoke no longer operates as a revenue-generating company, and its hosted services ended on October 31, 2025.
Adobe did not acquire the InvokeAI open-source project or company assets. Instead, select team members joined Adobe to work on future AI creative tools, bringing Invoke’s node-based workflow expertise into Adobe’s AI strategy.
Open-Source InvokeAI Is Still Alive
Despite the commercial shutdown, InvokeAI continues as a free, open-source project under community stewardship. Users can still download, run, and develop InvokeAI locally without subscriptions or accounts. Development remains active, with community-driven releases and ongoing model support.

What Users Need to Know
- Hosted users must migrate to self-hosting or alternative platforms (e.g., ViewComfy).
- Open-source users can continue using InvokeAI as before, with full local control and no fees.
Bottom line: InvokeAI’s commercial chapter has ended, but the open-source project remains active, independent, and community-driven.
